Becky Harris served as the Chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board until January 27, 2019. She is the first woman to serve the State of Nevada in this capacity.
Becky has a passion for helping Nevadans and is a strong advocate for Nevada's families. She has worked tirelessly to improve our children's education and find ways to ensure needed dollars reach the classroom. Having raised two children who attended public school in Las Vegas, Becky is keenly aware of the difficulties facing public schools in Clark County.
Becky also assisted Nevadans who are financially distressed and passed legislation to help struggling families during the 2015 and 2017 Legislative Sessions. A certified mediator, Becky has worked with the Nevada Foreclosure Mediation Program for several years and has been effective in facilitating communication between homeowners and banks to resolve foreclosure and home mortgage challenges while exploring solution oriented possibilities.
During the 2017 Legislative Session, Becky served on the Nevada Senate Judiciary, Finance and Education Committees. She also served as:
• Treasurer, National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS)
• Chair, NCGLS Committee on Responsible Gaming.
• Commissioner, Uniform Law Commission and Education Commission of the States.
• Nevada State Director, Women in Government.
Becky served as the Chair of the Senate Education Committee, Vice-Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and was a member of the Senate Commerce, Labor and Energy Committee.
during the 2015 Legislative Session. Becky has been recognized by numerous organizations for her work; including the Nevada Association of School Board, The Nevada Black Caucus, and the National Education Association Republican Education Caucus.
Becky's legal areas of focus have included counseling business clients in entity formation; maintaining compliance with State and local regulations; contract negotiation, commercial leases and dispute resolution.
